You probably remember a family member using a thimble to darn socks, quilt or embroider. Julene Shaffner has been collecting thimbles for years, and loves to share. Many are antiques and come with stories and history. Some are made of gold, some silver, others are made from vegetable ivory. She will share part of her collection with us and talk about some of the most expensive and rare thimbles she owns. Did you know that gentlemen used to buy thimbles from jewelry stores as a gift for his beloved? It may also have symbolized his intention to marry her. Join us for coffee and fun, reminiscing about these impressive little tools.
