The local chapter of the National Daughters of the American Revolution, Governor Edward Coles-Sally
Lincoln commemorated its 100th anniversary in 2021. Local historian and genealogist, Cynthia Nichols,
prepared for the celebration by developing a series of Patriotic Minutes, based on the lives of the men
and women who are the Revolutionary War ancestors of the Chapter’s 110 members. She will share
some interesting stories of those who have a close connection to the east side of Illinois.
A brief look at the women who organized the chapter in 1921 as well as the ways you can explore
requirements for joining a lineage society such as the DAR, SAR, and Mayflower Society will also be
provided by members of the local DAR chapter.
