On February 15, 1898, the USS Maine exploded and sank in Havana Harbor. Although the Maine's destruction was a key reason for America's entry into the Spanish-American War, a conflict with far-reaching consequences for the nation, the cause of the ship's destruction remains uncertain even today, 126 years and four investigations later. Charles Titus traces the events around the Maine's destruction and outlines the investigations that have not yet determined the tragedy's cause.
